We exist to make Jesus known.
We hope our website will be a helpful window to experience who we are and what we are about. Our desire is to be a community of believers who are passionately pursuing God’s vision for life. Our church family includes people from many different ages, stages, backgrounds and traditions, but we are unified in our love for Jesus Christ and our commitment to His Kingdom purposes.
Westwood’s mission is to be a conduit through which people are brought into a relationship with Jesus Christ and then taught how to live a God honoring life in a fallen world. We call this reaching and teaching and believe that faith in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, is the only way to eternal life. In short, We exist to make Jesus known.
Reaching people for Christ. Applying the Bible to everyday life. Becoming like Christ. Bending the knee in Prayer. Bowing the heart in worship to God. Building healthy relationships. Serving in the name of Christ. These are all core values that we believe will enable us to not only become, but “be” the church Christ intends us to be.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
 II Corinthians 5:20

Westwood Baptist is a family integrated fellowship

We ‘re glad that you have stopped by to learn what we’re all about. We are a church of imperfect people striving to serve, to the best of our ability, a perfect God. Our church family is a diverse group–a blend of folks young and old, single and married, with a mix of races and backgrounds, all loving God and serving Odessa. If you are looking for a place to deepen your understanding of God’s word and to grow in your faith, we would love to have you as our guest this Sunday.

Westwood Baptist Church is a Multi-Generational community that offers relevant ministries for all ages.

Though Sunday School has been around for a long time, it remains one of the best tools that we have to do regular, consistent discipleship and Bible training. Beyond that, Sunday School provides an excellent opportunity for people to be part of a small group and develop a real sense of belonging. Before both Sunday School and the morning worship service, we have greeters that will gladly lead you to the appropriate classroom.

At Westwood, we believe that worship is more than just singing! Worship is an act of showing respect and love to our great God. So come and join us in worship as we sing songs of praise to our great Savior and King.

Our Kid’s Club ministry team seeks to reveal the love of God to each child and help them develop their own identity in Christ. Kid’s Club activities include an organized game time and snacks. This is followed by a special time of worship where the kids learn songs of praise they will remember their entire life. Lesson time includes amazing interactive stories presented about the one true living God.

S.W.A.T. exists for the sole purpose of teaching students to own their faith in Jesus Christ and make their faith known! Growing closer to Christ each day can be challenging, but we know that He has called us to live with integrity and impact those around us. Come join us as we strive to fulfill the Lord’s command to go and make disciples.

The Joy Group is Westwood’s Senior Adult Ministry and is for those who are age 50 and over. The goal of this ministry is to meet the social and spiritual needs of our seniors. The Joy Group provides opportunities not simply for fellowship but for ministry and service. Senior adults are a valued part of the fellowship, ministry and service of Westwood.

Bus ministry has been called the greatest evangelistic tool in the history of the local church. Hundreds upon hundreds of people have come to church, heard the Gospel preached, and had their lives forever changed. At Westwood, we have seen the powerful, life-changing impact of this ministry on countless boys and girls, teens and adults. Call the church office at (432)337-3948 if you would like to be picked up.

A Brief Presentation of the Gospel:
Some More Reflections on the Gospel:
Another Summary:
The Gospel in a Sentence:
The Gospel is the “good news” about what God has done to save sinners like us through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel in a Few Sentences:
God is the creator of all things. He is perfectly holy and worthy of all our worship and he will punish sin because he is just. All people, though originally created good, have become sinful by nature and by choice. From birth, all of us are alienated from God, hostile to God, and rebelling against God. Therefore, all people are subject to the wrath of God and deserve eternal separation from God. But God loves us. Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully human, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear God’s wrath in the place of all who would believe in him, and rose from the grave in order to give his people forgiveness and eternal life. God calls everyone everywhere to turn from our sins and trust in Christ in order to be saved. This salvation is a gift that Christ alone has accomplished and Christ alone can offer to us. We are not saved because of our good works, but only by God’s grace, through faith.
The Gospel in a Few More Sentences:
